Odd Lot #79: Joseph Cattin 2020 Pinot Noir “Tradition”

$11.74

Category: .

Hi Everyone,

The Cattin estate is composed of many small plots located in the Southern part of Alsace’s Colmar region, and a staggering 80% of their vineyard land is located on slopes. This venerable house produces some of the region’s most terroir-driven examples of Grand Cru Riesling such as the legendary Hatschbourg which ranks among the family’s oldest plots.

…Today though, we are talking Pinot Noir!

Yes, Pinot Noir from Alsace.

No, not Cremant d’Alsace made from a Pinot Noir base…We are talking proper, Burgundian-approach still wine.

With climates warming across the globe, Colmar is becoming an increasingly engaging option for this category and you’ll see more and more of it. Cattin’s current release has the conifer element that we so appreciate in top-level Pinot from the area, along with a classic “crunchiness” on the palate.

You will not find a more ridiculous value in domaine-bottled Pinot Noir than this.

Thanks for your support.
