Many of you keep asking for seconds and thirds of this crisp and clean old-vine Grüner Veltliner after tasting the wine back in 2022. This comes as no surprise as we consider this the most engaging sub $20 Grüner to come out of Kremstal.
Why?
Unusual vineyard stock sets Manfred Felsner apart from his creative/indie Austrian peers – More than half of Felsner’s Grüner parcels are classified as “old vine,” and most of these root 30+ feet deep, adding an extract and substance to the finished wine that must be experienced to be believed.
Today’s fresh vintage is from Manfred’s “Fall 2023” bottling which means the wine spent an extra six months on the lees (he bottles once in Spring and once in Fall) – Not to geek out too much but these extra six months result in yeast autolysis which makes for a finished wine that will continue to gracefully age and develop over the next 5-7 years.
If you are a fan of classical/dry/balanced white wines you’ll be happy to have a box of this in your cellar.
How is $9.90/bottle this week on case orders from the extra pallet we just locked down?
