Whenever we sit down to dinner within Spain, Frank will swiftly order two bottles of the best traditional Rioja Reserva on the list.

Why two bottles? Look at the man and take your best guess!

Why Reserva and not Gran Reserva? Frank is VERY convinced in his belief that every producer’s best Rioja is their Reserva. He will insist that Reservas show that perfect balance of crunchy Tempranillo fruit and the region’s signature stamp of American oak, whereas Gran Reservas almost always lose such vibrancy during their extended time in barrel.

So…
