Hi Everyone,
Californians cannot seem to get enough of Vigneron Pascal Glas’ Costieres de Nimes “Les Gres.”
Until recently, one of the largest e-commerce retailers in the country would plow through containers of this gem. The story was that today’s wine was, vintage after vintage, their best-selling wine offer each year in terms of case volume. Several years back, the aforementioned retailer was sold to a private-equity firm, the shipments abruptly stopped, and this gem of a wine was thereafter nowhere to be found in the USA.
Someone needed to jump in and keep things flowing….
We figured all of you would collectively be happy to do so.
…and we were of course happy to serve as your intermediary.
So…
During a prior tasting, we booked a nice large load of Pascal’s 2019 “Les Gres,” and intentionally let the tranche rest prior to release (with a very traditional elevage, this is what we’ve previously called a “stash” wine, meaning it needs time after release to enter its sublime, olive and cassis tinged glory zone). Our last tasting today reminded me that after 18 months of hidden/roped off “rest” in our warehouse, now is a good time to release this beauty, as it has entered the perfect drinking window.
For those unfamiliar with the glories of Poulravel, this naked example of Grenache and Syrah serves as a spectacular example of the Costieres de Nimes AOP:
“This wine delivers intense aromatics reminiscent of strolling through a pine forest after a quick rain shower. Fresh leaves wrap around Bing cherries and rhubarb, followed by a bouquet of rose petals and dried lavender. It finishes with a fine stony texture. Lush and quite enjoyable on its own, this wine will surely impress dinner party guests. 91 points.” — Anna-Christina Cabrales, Wine Enthusiast 4/23
One question remained – Could we get your cost low enough to compete with those glory day years of direct-to-retail Poulravel at $12 retail?
Of course we could!
Meaning we can get your cost to…
$10.35!
First-come-first-served until sold out.
