Hi Everyone,
The third and final round of our “déstockage” is here, and we’ve saved the best for last….as long as you are into super-traditional, fine-textured, aged Cahors.
The 2017 vintage of Chateau de Gaudou’s limited-run “Renaissance” release was promising but Tight-with-a-capital-T six years ago:
“Equally full of fruit and acidity, this wine has a solid structure. Black-currant flavors are supported by the dense tannic texture. All this means the wine needs time, and will be best from 2022.” 90 Points. – Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast, 11/19
Nope, during the Spring of 2020, you couldn’t even tame this stuff with Derk’s cassoulet.
Fast forward half a decade, and as it turns out, Roger Voss was spot on. During our “lets open a few hundred bottles today” déstockage tasting session, this one sang from the glass with the brambly, elegant, old-school Cahors goodness that you rarely come across. Once open, it continued to evolve daily, with day three being peak drinking.
So good. So, so good.
At $14.85, this will be “the” deal of the déstockage season for all of those who appreciate properly-aged French classics.
Go crazy!
Thank you for your amazing support.
