Hi Everyone,
Nice work on that Cairanne!! Many of you are asking for Bourgogne Rouge in the $9’s as an encore…
Perhaps you all were joking, but it is worth the exercise: Can we make that happen?
Of course! (anything goes during the “déstockage”).
But…
Based on the table of this morning’s Bourgogne candidates, in the world of authentic mid-single-digit Pinot Noir, you’ll prefer the new world “ringer” wine from today’s lineup: the Sherwood Estate 2023 “Stoney Range” Pinot Noir.
This crimson-colored, crisp, mineral-driven, 13% ABV release comes from our friends Jill and Dayne Sherwood in New Zealand’s Waipara Valley, and is sourced from estate vines surrounding their house. A pretty large pile of it recently landed here.
How can handmade, single-estate Pinot Noir that holds its own in a Bourgogne Rouge lineup sell for $9.75, you ask?
First, you will want to thank the New Zealand dollar for its recent tailspin. If you don’t have a NZ > USD exchange rate history map open, picture the downward angle of a black diamond ski run and you’ll get the idea.
Second, you can thank yourselves – When you all are collectively buying as voraciously and as deep as you are this month, anything goes!!
Thank you for your amazing support.
