Most of you know Dan Kravitz as the man who “discovered” Domaine Pegau 30 years ago while sitting in a cafe with a then-young Robert Parker. The hardcore members of this list know Dan Kravitz as the visionary behind the way-ahead-of-its-time Maury project otherwise known as Domaine Cabirau.

When Dan recently sold his import company, Hand Picked Selections, he decided to move distribution of Cabirau elsewhere, and we were more than happy to walk up to the front of the line when he rang – Buying Cabirau direct would mean more opportunity to score the quantities we wanted when we wanted (including some fun with back vintages!), and also the ability to pass on the delicious pricing that you expect nowadays. 😉

Today’s release, from Maury’s beloved black slate soil, is as raucous as it is interesting. The “Serge & Marie,” a 2019 in the perfect drinking window today, is ounce for ounce one of the best values we’ve dealt in all year.
