Hi Everyone,
Our friend Céline just called in from Bordeaux…
“Hey, I have the greatest deal of my career for you on a 2020 vintage Saint Emilion from a tiny domaine called Chateau La Chapelle. We started the collaboration several vintages ago: the wine did not have any ratings nor much international recognition – It just tasted amazing, solid, and super juicy with beautiful black fruit & violet notes. We bought the entire production, we usually sell half of it in Paris restaurants…and I secure the rest for the US market. The quantity offered is all I have left on this vintage.”
Our response to Céline? That given the unheard of low cost and the new 91-point scores that just dropped, she is about to create a stampede!
Yes, today we bring you more Bordeaux, this time in the way of perfect-drinking-window, classical, organically farmed, 2020 vintage, highly rated Saint Emilion in the $16’s.
Yes, the $16’s….you are reading that right!
“A fruity pure Merlot wine that has spice and tannins as well as juicy black fruits. Smoky with a jammy character that still allows room for acidity, the wine is likely to be ready to drink from 2025. Organic. 91 points. (reviewed at $30)” – Wine Enthusiast
“Aromas of dark plums, dark cherries, violets, wet earth, marmite and cigar box. Medium-bodied with fine, powdery tannins. Dark and chocolatey with a fleshy texture and a dense, flavorful finish. Compact. 100% merlot. From organically grown grapes. Try from 2023.” 91 Points. -James Suckling
